At FBR Investment Fund, our primary objective is to identify real estate deals with significant return potential and make them accessible to our investors. We specialize in two areas:

1. Single family residential and small multi-family “flip projects” with shorter time-frames which have a specific emphasis on value-add or property repositioning that allow us to swiftly maximize property value.

2. Mid to large sized projects (ground-up construction, value-add or reposition deals) which we hold long-term in our cash-flowing portfolio.

In both instances we find off-market deals through industry connections and purchase our properties below market value. We focus on immediate value enhancement, ensuring greater profitability regardless of market conditions.

Our streamlined operations leverage a small in-house team of real estate experts who live real estate, combined with advanced software automation and cutting-edge technology to handle deals in volume. This efficient approach allows us to maintain low overhead costs and deliver superior returns to our valued investors. Our team shares two common passions: generating opportunities that allow our investors to grow their wealth, and creating amazing properties that people proudly call “home”!

Matt Burrow – Founder & Head of Acquisitions

Matt brings a passion for real estate and over 19 years of industry expertise to FBR Investment Fund. Prior to real estate investing Matt was a practicing Doctor of Chiropractic, owning and managing 3 healthcare clinics in the Phoenix Valley.

In 2004 Matt retired from the medical field, started flipping houses and worked on creating a rental portfolio. He has flipped over 375 houses and owned over 80 rentals while working with high-net-worth private capital, giving partners very strong returns. This experience will be guiding the company’s push to acquire 300+ SFR fix-n-flip properties in 2023-2024. Matt has developed a house-flip analysis software program and mentored countless investors to give back to the investor community.

Matt’s multi-family investing began in 2006 and includes development projects, value-add /redevelopment deals and apartment-to-condo conversions. Matt’s experience as a principal includes deal sizes up to 200 units and $24M in value.

Matt is heavily involved in all aspects of an FBR deal, from finding and analyzing discounted off-market deals, to contract negotiations and financing. Matt has set up the Company’s team and property “pipeline” system to handle a high volume of deals and is always looking for creative win-win situations to help out a Seller.

He created Accounting for Rentals and Flips, an accounting company for investors (his company performs no services for FBR deals) and is passionate about his family, personal growth and development, and making a positive impact in his community.

Marshall has a strong real estate background to include a degree in Urban Planning, starting and managing the construction division of a large property management company and has flipped single family homes. Utilizing his leadership skills, he is FBR’s Operations Manager and leads the core team. 

As part of his Urban Planning education he became a data analyst specializing in real estate.  At FBR, Marshall oversees the incoming purchased properties brought “into the pipeline” and coordinates the teams’ action plan as closings, renovations and resale activities are kicked off. As a “systems guy”, Marshall is a perfect fit for the step-by-step approach that the Company takes on each deal it acquires.

During his former property management construction division start-up, he was personally responsible for managing the crews who maintained 100+ SFH rental properties. He did this while continuously delivering multiple rehab projects under-budget and ahead of schedule. During this time he was also directly involved in the property management and leasing side of the company.

Marshall works with trades and on-site renovation crews as well as Jonathan (our GC) during construction and engage vendors for material acquisition.  He is also engaged in property management when we rent a property out during the permitting phase of construction.

As part of his adventurous spirit, Marshall spent three years in Alaska as a salmon fishing boat captain, and has engaged a variety of outdoor activities. His passions involve working with with his team and spending time with his family.

As a licensed, bonded and insured General Contractor, Jonathan will be working closely with all trades and overseeing the renovations and construction on all FBR properties. He will also be working with our architect during the design phase of additions and ground-up development projects.

Growing up as the son of an electrician, Jonathan gained experience and knowledge in all areas of construction as he worked on job sites starting in his teens.  Fast-forward 20+ years, and as a General Contractor he has performed full remodels on over 550 SFH, has been the General Contractor on a number of ground-up $1M+ custom homes, and has managed full apartment complex remodels up to 450 units in size. 

His typical construction budgets range between $300k-$5M and clients have included high-volume hedge fund SFR investors.

Jonathan is also a real estate investor himself and as a principal has purchased multiple value-add apartment complexes, significantly improving their value with strategic renovations and improved management. 

Having the “mindset of an investor and  principal”, as well as a strong character and tireless work ethic, we have found Jonathan to be the perfect General Contractor for FBR.

While away from work Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family, enjoys outdoor activities and is a dedicated leader in his church .
